The new village of Katonah is born on April 5. The first train rushes by the old station and pulls up at the new. Postmaster Elbridge Arnold begins handing out mail in the present village.

The first baby of the new village is born on Nov 1, 1897.

The Village Improvement Society plants 208 trees.
