The story of transplanting the entire community in 1897 inspires the musical play "Katonah", written by John Allison and William Kendall Clarke. It is shown at the Memorial House. The state approves the Chestnut Ridge route for Interstate 87, prompting a long protest hike from Purchase to Katonah. William L. Hunter, chairman of the United Fund, has named Monmouth G. Buckbee, Clinton S. Bendict, and Ben Lorenz as residential chairmen for the drive. | |
